We finally got to visit La Fonda Colombiana.

Even though there is a lot to be said about dinning out during a recession//inflation era, my wife and I try to go out at least once a week. It’s good for the soul and above all, our relationship.

After several failed attempts, we finally made it to this wonderful Colombian restaurant and Bar.

Located at 200 Boston Post Road in Orange CT, this seemly unassuming food heaven is somewhat hidden behind a large front parking lot on a small shopping plaza right next to a U-HAUL center.

We went there for lunch and there were only a few patrons on a couple of tables at that time.

We ordered a Colombian Soda for my wife and a Lulo (Naranjilla) juice for me. Lulo is a tropical perennial from northwestern South America.

In my search for trying new things, I wanted to taste this exotic fruit.

Not sure if it was prepared the right way but to me it was rather bland. Maybe something that can be mixed with milk instead of water, as it was served to me.

For our entrees, my wife ordered the Mini Picada La Fonda, a melting pot of mini potatoes, fried yuca, chicharron, chicken, sausage, morcilla (blood sausage) and steak; and for me the quintessential Colombian dish; Bandeja Paisa (Beef, egg, rice, beans, chorizo, chicharron, fried plantain and avocado).

The food was excellent. My wife and I have no complains. The Bandeja Paisa was actually better than the one I had before at Latin Escape restaurant that we had visited recently.

The staff was very attentive and courteous and we are definitely coming back soon. They have an extended happy hour, so it’s something that we need to explore with other friends and family.

I will most certainly recommend La Fonda Colombiana if you will like to taste some authentic Colombian and South American delicacies.
