Happy Birthday America!

Happy Birthday America!

When in Rome….

I start this blog like that because I am one of those people that can’t stand the center-of-the-world mentality of the people of the United States.

America is the Entire Continent!!

People here say things like: “The birth of America“, “America the beautiful“, etc.

They mean to say: “The United States OF America“…

Heck, if you go to Wikipedia and type: “America” on the search box, you get the United States reference page!!

The page makes the suggestion that if you are looking for the continent you should type: “Americas“.

And I don’t mean to be Debbie Downer here, I am really happy that this country is celebrating 241 years of independence.

Is my country now, anyways.

I am just saying, that people should be a little more educated and use the right words.

The name America was first recorded in 1507 (together with the related term Amerigen) in the Cosmographiae Introductio, apparently written by Matthias Ringmann, in reference to South America.[20] It was first applied to both North and South America by Gerardus Mercator in 1538. Amerigen means “land of Amerigo“. America was named after Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci—Wikipedia

I think I have wasted too many words on a rant when what I meant to say was:

Happy 4th of July!!

Don’t believe the hype. Droning is not easy. Maybe once you had some flight hours under your belt, but not when you are starting.
