On a recent trip to Mexico, we went to the usual tourist traps. There were plenty of T-Shirt purchases and knick-knacks for the house.
I grew up listening to “Radio Novelas” (Soaps on the Radio) and one of them was Kaliman (The man from Kali). It was a daily radio show in the form of the radio shows from the 40s and 50s.
There were stories about this man from India that was sort of globetrotter investigator, going from country to country righting evil-doers.
I was also an avid reader of the Mexican comic books of Chanoc.
As such, the skulls were featured prominently in the show and comics. All this to tell you I have always wanted a skull for my desk…
Mind you, not a real skull. More of a paper-weight that somebody’s cranium. 😉
I finally got two on our trip to Mexico…
I took a picture of the big one and put the picture through several programs (FX Photo Studio, Affinity Photo, Topaz Studio, etc).
I had this image on my mind. It is an illustration similar to those glow-in-the-dark posters from the 70s. It is where I wanted to get with the edition and I think it came out nice.
I think it works very well with my memories of Kaliman and Chanoc!!
